Viva Italia!

Everyone has that one place they wish to visit once in their life. There are way too many places I want to visit in my lifetime, but Italy is definitely one of the top 5. My obsession with Italian food plays a big role in this, but one thing I anticipate on doing is scoping out the beautiful architecture in the cities of Rome, relaxing on gondola rides in Venice, and non-stop shopping in Milan.

As I mentioned before, Italian food plays a big role in my life. Pizza is one of my most favorite things to eat at whatever time in the day.  I once read of a pizza place in Italy called L’Antica Pizzeria Da Michele in the New York Times Bestseller Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. Ever since I read about it I’ve wanted to make the trip to see if it lives up to the hype! I have a feeling it’ll be worth it.

Finally, you can’t visit Italy without giving respect to its football champions! I anticipate to witness a live soccer game in Italy. Here is a clip of Italy’s team at its best at the 2006 FIFA World Cup games hosted in Germany.

The Music Maestro

Someone once said “music is what feelings sound like”.  I agree – don’t you ever find yourself in the ‘mood’ to only listen to certain songs or music?

I thoroughly enjoy listening to music, and I’m a big believer in having an appreciation for every kind of music out there…and there are so many! Rap, RnB, Hip Hop, Classical, Country, Opera, Rock n Roll, Tango, Techno, Pop…the list goes on.

I’m not saying that I’m a huge fanatic of every genre. What I am a fan of is the expression of music – and the fact that someone has created a unique art that they can call their own and have others appreciate it. Every genre of music is an expression of something, and every note has a story to tell.  Afterall, it’s music that brings the world closer. It’s music that allows for rhythm, beats, and dance. It’s music, that created the one and only A.R. Rahman.

For those of you who haven’t heard of him as the number one music director in the Bollywood industry, I’m sure you would recognize him as the winner of a Golden Globe award, a double Grammy winner and double Oscar winner for the music direction of the infamous film of 2008, Slumdog Millionaire. I recently  had the chance to attend A.R. Rahman’s world tour ‘Jai Ho’ concert in September. To say the least, I was simply awestruck. His music has this consistent tendency to blow me away each and every time.

A.R. Rahman has not only created music for Bollywood films, but has also shared his magic through musicals such as Bombay Dreams and The Lord of the Rings Musical. Recently, he has had the opportunity to create the theme music for the Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games held in Delhi, India. Watch his outstanding performance at the opening ceremony!

Food, food, and more food!

Food.
One of the most essential needs for the human body has turned into a passion for me. I love food. From the vast selection of tastes and flavors to the creativity and thought put into the presentation – I simply love every little aspect of food. Whether it be the small delectable portions served in a Mexican tapas restaurant or the largest portions I’ve ever seen in my life from The Cheesecake Factory, I love it all.

Recently, I have found a love for sushi and for the past 2-3 years, our relationship has been going strong and solid. I can probably go on about every genre of cuisine out there – Thai,Chinese, Indian, Italian, Lebanese, Vietnamese, Portuguese…and the list goes on. But I think each of them deserve to be dedicated blogs of their own. What, or I should say who I really want to talk about is a master chef that has instilled this new passion for food for me. Not just in the means of eating and enjoy it, but of creating it!

Chef Gordon Ramsey is known as one of the most elite chefs in the world. His knowledge of food has brought him to become a recognizable host and judge on television shows such as Hell’s Kitchen, Kitchen Nightmares, and Master Chef. Being a huge fan of the food network, I’ve become inspired over his perception of food. A simple breakfast of scrambled eggs becomes a gourmet delicacy just by adding in some tips from the man himself.

Bon Appetit!
